Hey, thx for the comment, the earth is a map from the nasa blue marble website:

[link]

but you can't actually tell where on earth it is, because in photoshop the render was flipped, so it is the west coast of africa on the left, and florida on the right hand side. hope this clears it up for you.

Is there anyway I could request a version of this with North America (primarly like Indiana and et cetra) ion the sun side and Europe in the dark showing at a resolution of 2560 by 800 pixels?..

If so.. could you please note me and inform me when its done? I'd love to have it as my desktop..

Thanks for your help. :D

Hey yea i'd love to see what you do, I supose I can use the old Nasa excuse about no stars, i.e. the brightness of the moons surface drowns out the tiny amount of brightness from the stars, yadda yadda yadda.... But truthfully, I suck at them, it either ends up as just adding noise, which looks crap, or going for somithing big and fancy that doesnt work out, so meh I supose.

e-mail is liamcasey(@)ntlworld.com if you wanna share what you do.

I frankly think it looks more authentic without the stars, and hence, is more enjoyable.

One question though:

Is the Earth rendered with the actual 'planetary' graphics?

I guess what I'm trying to say is: Is the Earth pictured in this desktop an actual photo of Earth, mapped on to a spheroid shape or is it your own perception of what Earth should look like?
